POLICY REVIEW PROCESS

WAHKIAKUM SCHOOL DISTRICT

OBJECTIVE

Provide clarity and a framework for the process of ongoing review of School District policies.  Wahkiakum School District utilizes and implements legal guidance from the Washington State School Director Association Legal Team for the development and recommendation for Model Policies.  Policies are developed and implemented in accordance with Washington State Law, Federal Law and educational best practice.

PROCESS and TIMING

• Policies to be reviewed will be posted on the School District website prior to the first reading of the policies.

• The District Review Committee will review policies and comments and prepare draft policy for the second reading.

• Directors and members of the public are welcome and encouraged to submit written comments regarding issues or requested modification.  Comments and requests are to be submitted via email to Superintendent Brent Freeman at bfreeman@wahksd.k12.wa.us 

• Policy approval including any changes will be voted on by the Directors at the second reading, typically at the next board meeting.

• At that Second Reading, the Board has discretion for policy to be voted on for adoption, rejection or postponement.

• Policies may be voted on by acclimation.
